Hi folks!
I am an Artist and Tutor, living and working in Cardiff, and I love my job!
The Joys of Teaching!
I really enjoy teaching people to draw and paint, it is such a
life-enhancing pastime. As well as being a confidence-building skill,
it can have a meditative effect too .... when else in our busy lives
are we able to just simply sit and stare at the world around us?
Once people learn to draw and paint they notice so much more detail,
colour and beauty. One of my lady learners described the effect as
having had her eyes "properly opened" at last. Another said she was
never bored because everything she looked at nowadays was "a potential
painting, even a grey rainy day!"
It gives me immense pleasure to see the positive changes in
people I have taught, their sense of achievement and pride in their
work.
My Teaching Methods & Style
I always remember that my learners are individuals - so I teach the
person first and the subject second. This means being aware of each
individual's learning needs and the stage they are at in their
learning. I will vary the style of instruction to suit each person,
even in a group or class doing the same exercise, everyone will get
individual advice suitable to their requirements.
I am equally good with absolute beginners, improvers or
more experienced artists, tailoring the teaching to suit. Beginners are
welcome on my Painting Holidays, I have taught many over the years and
all have returned home able to draw and paint, having had a lovely
holiday too.
My job
As well as running Painting Holidays and local Sketching Excursions, I also teach Art privately,
runs Arts and Crafts workshops in schools and for several years I have taught adult
classes in Watercolour, Mixed Media, Drawing and Painting, Acrylics and Drawing For the Terrified, for Cardiff Council. My current classes for Cardiff Council are Painting For Pleasure (Rumney, 1pm - 3pm Mondays) and Watercolour Painting (Howardian Centre, 7pm - 9pm Thursdays). New students are always welcome on any of my courses.
Now I am concentrating on Holidays, Sketching Excursions
and Private Tuition. I also offer several classes in my home studio in
Cardiff - Watercolour on Wednesdays and Drawing on Thursdays. Please contact me if you wish to join us in these classes - spaces are limited.

I am available for private hire as a tutor too, and can create a

Painting Holiday Venues and Locations
I choose accommodation extremely carefully, to ensure that we have
peace and tranquility, indoor and outdoor space for painting, a prime
location with fantastic views, seashore locations and nearby
restaurants and other facilities. I tend hire small guesthouses
or large private villas rather than stay in big expensive hotels where
a lack of privacy can be a problem.
Locations have to be inspirational for my painting guests.
I take them to places I have already visited and enjoyed myself. This
means that I know my way around and all the best spots to perch &
paint, get a great cup of coffee and take a dip in the sea. I research
each location thoroughly and draw up an interesting and varied
agenda of places to visit, which will give my guests a good tour of all that is interesting and picturesque in the area.
There is always plenty of time for shopping, swimming,
exploring and relaxing on my holidays, and the amount of drawing and
painting guests do is up to them.

I am fortunate enough to be regularly invited onboard Cruise ships as Guest Art Lecturer
where my painting and drawing lessons are extremely popular. I always publish my upcoming cruises and past reviews on the website.
